The CUT is a 100% terpene-based diluent, or extract thinner for vapes that reduces the viscosity of thick distillates, preventing crystallization and having the distillate crash out. The CUTTM can increase flow without affecting cannabinoid ratios, terpene profiles, flavor, or potency.
The BASE is an all-natural vape carrier oil designed to make up the majority of a vape formulation, giving you the flexibility you need. Made from cannabis-centric organic terpenes, lipids, and esters, it’s flavorless and odorless, filling volume without altering your carefully crafted formulation.
The THICK is an industry-first 100% natural thickener. It’s designed to preserve cannabinoid profiles while thickening formulations to prevent cartridge leaks, while stopping crystallization and without compromising on vaporization performance.
The CLEAR is a targeted redox-control ingredient built for one job: keeping oil-based formulations visually stable over time. Oil darkening is not a quality failure — it is a chemistry battle against oxygen, light, and heat. THE CLEAR™ gives your formulation the tools to win that battle, preserving the bright, clean appearance of your oil from first fill to final sale.
The Essentials Collection is entirely synthetic free, with each product made from all-natural, plant-derived compounds that meet the strictest food-grade standards. They’re free of harmful and banned additives such as PG, PEG, VG, MCT, and vitamin E acetate.
Follow this simple three-step process to incorporate The Essentials into your formulations:
Start with your distillate, isolate, or blend and establish your target cannabinoid ratios and potency first. The Essentials won't alter your cannabinoid profile, so lock this in before moving on. Gently warm the distillate to make blending easier.
Add your terpene blends to establish flavor and aroma. Terpenes can be used to reinforce strain-specific flavors or to add new natural and unusual aromas to your vape carts.
Terpenes are potent, so start at 1% concentration and increase gradually until you've achieved your desired profile. In most vape formulations, terpenes will make up no more than 10% of the final formula.
Evaluate your formulation for viscosity and crystallization risk, then add the appropriate Essential:
Whichever Essentials you use, add them slowly and blend thoroughly to ensure even distribution. The Essentials can all be used in combination to fine-tune viscosity until you have a stable formula; if you overshoot in either direction, the others can correct it.

Yes, the Essentials Collection is made from 100% natural, GRAS food-grade ingredients, the same standard that applies across the entire Lab Effects terpene portfolio. The Essentials is our safe, naturally derived alternative to harmful - and increasingly banned synthetic vape oil additives, such as PG, MCT, and vitamin E acetate.
The Essentials are sourced from plant-derived terpenes and other essential oils, and Certificates of Analysis and Safety Data Sheets are available for every product, giving you and your customers full transparency and quality assurance.
Disclaimer: Terpenes are non-polar oil-based hydrocarbons that, in pure form, can be very potent and sometimes volatile, flammable, and even corrosive compounds. For this reason, they are ingredients that should be used strictly by experienced, trained manufacturers and not sold directly to consumers. Some industry resellers do market these substances to consumers in bright, colorful bottles with little to no chemical specifications or label warnings. We strongly discourage this behavior and advise consumers and businesses unfamiliar with these compounds to be careful when purchasing, storing, and using them.
Crystallization (or crashing out) occurs when certain cannabinoids are present at too high of a concentration in vape oils and carts. In certain concentrations, cannabinoid molecules naturally crystallize within the extract, causing crystals in vape oil and a cloudy or grainy appearance. This is especially likely with high-purity isolates such as CBD, CBG, and THCa.
The problem of distillate crashing can be solved by using a vape carrier oil, like The BASE. It increases total volume relative to cannabinoid concentration, ensuring the cannabinoids stay liquid.
The BASE is a blend of non-aromatic terpenes, lipids, and esters in which cannabinoids easily dissolve. The BASE™ is easy to use, even at high concentrations, and does not affect the flavor or aroma of your product. It can make up the majority of your formulation; simply add it to your active ingredients to achieve your desired effects.
Vape oils should flow at room temperature, but many distillates have a naturally high viscosity, especially at the desired potency for most vape products. Oil that is too thick to flow at room temperature will clog hardware, overload heating elements, and cause uneven vaporization, so thinning THC oil during formulation is critical.
The CUT was made to fix the problem of extracts which are too thick for vape hardware. As a flavorless, terpene-based diluent for vapes, it reduces viscosity without compromising potency or taste. Once you've established your cannabinoid and terpene ratios, blend in The CUT™ to make your extract thinner and more usable within the vape cart.
Vape cart leaks occur when vape oil is too thin for the hardware, and are a common issue with cheap vape hardware. Leaks are also common in high-terpene formulations which are naturally thinner distillates. Thin oil flows too freely through the cartridge's intake holes, causing leaking and uneven vaporization.
The THICK increases oil viscosity without affecting vaporization function. It works by responding to increasing temperatures, thickening the oil at room temperature but not impeding vaporization as the cart heats up. It's inert and thermally stable up to 450°F, making it far safer than synthetic alternatives.
Hardware selection is also important. Match your cart's intake aperture size to your oil's viscosity, using wider holes for thicker oils to prevent both leaking and flooding of the heating element. But even if you have a stockpile of mismatched hardware, you can fix just about any too-thin extraction with The THICK.
Crystals in vape carts can clog the experience, blocking airflow and preventing the cart from working altogether. Certain cannabis distillates come naturally thicker than many vape oils, and if not thinned, the cannabinoids crystallize at low temperatures.
To formulate vape carts that won't clog, use The CUT to reduce the viscosity of your product during formulation and prevent further crystallization for your customers. Matching the viscosity to your hardware is key, ensuring oil flows appropriately upon heating.
The CUT is flavorless and odorless, so it can be added in any quantity to achieve the desired viscosity, without affecting the flavor and aroma profile of your product.
For a vape cart that's already clogged, gently heat to reduce the viscosity and encourage it to flow. This is only a temporary fix, however, as the vape will crystallize again when it returns to room temperature. Changes to the formulation are the only lasting solution.
