Cannabis Formulation Calculator
Cannabis Formulation Calculator
Dial in terpene load, potency and yield for gummies, vapes, tinctures and flower sprays. Enter your numbers — results update as you type.
Gummies
Dose every piece, add flavor/terpenes to the batch and scale the gummy base to any number of batches.
How to use: set your target dose and extract potency, then enter the batch count and gummy weight. The batch sheet on the left shows exactly how much extract and flavor/terpenes to weigh out per batch and for the full run.
Batch Sheet
Edit the base recipe per batch — extract and flavor/terpenes are calculated.| Ingredient | Per batch (g) | Total (g) |
|---|---|---|
| Total batch weight |
Vape
Add terpenes to your input material by percentage — or set a target potency and we'll solve the terpene load.
How to use: enter the weight and potency of your distillate or live resin, then pick a terpene percentage (most carts run 5–10%) or a target potency. Results show terpenes to add, final potency and how many carts you’ll fill.
Tincture
Balance input material, carrier oil and terpenes to land on a final mg/ml — or solve for the extract you need.
How to use: enter your extract, carrier oil volume and terpene percentage to get mg/ml, mg per serving and mg per bottle — or switch to “Input material needed” to solve for the extract required to hit a target potency.
Flower Spray
Size a spray application from the weight of your flower and the load you want — of the spray itself or of the active molecule.
How to use: enter flower weight and potency, then the load you want as a percentage of flower weight. The calculator returns the spray volume to apply and the finished potency after the carrier flashes off.

How the calculator works
The formulas behind every tab, so you can check the math and scale with confidence.
How do I calculate the THC dose per gummy?
Multiply the target mg per gummy by the number of gummies to get total THC, then divide by your extract potency in mg/g to get grams of extract. Because the extract and flavor/terpenes add weight to the batch, the calculator solves the whole batch together so every finished gummy stays on dose. Add an overage of a few percent to offset process loss.
How much flavor or terpenes should I add to a gummy batch?
Flavor/terpene loads are set as a percentage of total batch weight. Enter the percentage and the calculator returns the grams to add per batch and for the full run, and rebalances the extract so dose per gummy does not change.
How do I calculate terpene percentage for vape oil?
Terpenes can be measured as a percentage of the final blend or of the input material. As a share of the final blend, terpenes to add = input weight × terp% ÷ (1 − terp%). As a share of input material, terpenes to add = input weight × terp%.
How do terpenes affect vape potency?
Terpenes carry no cannabinoids, so they dilute potency. Final potency = input weight × input potency ÷ total blend weight. To hit a target potency, terpenes to add = input weight × (input potency ÷ target potency − 1).
How do I calculate tincture potency in mg/ml?
Total cannabinoid mg is input material in grams × potency % × 10. Divide that by the total tincture volume in ml, including carrier oil, extract and terpenes, to get mg/ml. Multiply by serving size for mg per serving and by bottle size for mg per bottle.
How much spray should I apply to cannabis flower?
Spray loads are calculated on starting flower weight. If you target a percentage of the active molecule, spray needed = flower weight × target % ÷ active concentration in the spray. Divide grams by spray density to get milliliters.
What is a typical terpene percentage for vape cartridges?
Most distillate cartridges run 5–10% terpenes by weight; live resin and rosin often need less because they retain native terpenes. Start around 6–8% with a Lab Effects strain profile, test for flavor and viscosity, and adjust in 1% steps.
How much extract do I lose making gummies?
Expect 5–15% process loss from residue left in the depositor, hoses and mold, plus trim and rejects. Enter your measured loss in the Process loss field and the calculator reports finished count after loss; the Extract overage field adds extract up front so the finished dose still hits target.
Should I use cannabis derived or botanical terpenes in my formulation?
Cannabis Derived Terpenes (CDT) reproduce a strain’s True-To-Flower™ profile and are preferred for strain-named vapes and flower. Botanical Derived Terpenes (BDT) are cost-effective for edibles, tinctures and flavor-forward products. Both are dosed the same way in this calculator.
How do I convert mg/ml to mg per dropper?
Multiply mg/ml by the dropper volume. A standard 1 ml dropper at 30 mg/ml delivers 30 mg; a half dropper delivers 15 mg. Set Serving size in the Tincture tab to your dropper volume and the calculator does the conversion.
Does spraying flower change its THC potency?
Yes. Adding weight changes potency. A cannabinoid spray raises potency; a terpene or flavor spray lowers it slightly by adding non-cannabinoid weight. Finished potency = (flower weight × flower potency + cannabinoid added) ÷ finished flower weight.
